Desi girl, videsi love: All the details about Priyanka Chopra - Nick Jonas Engagement

          We know what you’re thinking - weren’t they already engaged? See, Nick Jonas had already popped the question earlier in July in London, to which Priyanka had said yes. On Saturday the 18^th, the duo solemnized their relationship with the traditional Punjabi Roka ceremony, followed by a lavish party, thus officiating their betrothal in the presence of close family and friends.

Here are all the details of this celebrity couple’s relationship & engagement.

How they met

          The couple is believed to have first met at the Met Gala in 2017. Realizing they were both wearing ensembles by Ralph Lauren, both PeeCee and Nick walked in with flirtatious grins thrown each other’s way.

The duo was next spotted at an LA Dodgers game, entering the stadium together.

Soon Nick Jonas shared an Insta story of him and Priyanka enjoying a yacht ride with close friends. In one of the pictures, the two can be seen snuggling under a blanket.

          The eagerly awaited confirmation of the two secretly dating finally came at Akash Ambani’s engagement. Standing loud and proud, Priyanka introduced her videsi prince in the most desi way possible; wearing a bright red sari.

The Proposal

          After two months of dating, Nick Jonas knew Priyanka was the one. To woo her lady love, the gentleman pulled out all the stops. Looking for the ideal ring, he went shopping at Tiffany & Co. and shut down the store to ensure the utmost privacy. (Sweet Home Alabama, anyone?) Finding the perfect sparkler for his girlfriend, he proposed to her on her 36^th birthday, in a romantic, fairytale-like setting with just the two of them. OMG!

Engagement Ring

          While official details from Tiffany haven't come out yet, experts say the gorgeous ring is a high-quality customized cushion cut diamond with tapered baguettes. Weighing around 4 carats the ring looks to be somewhere around a G color, VS1 clarity which, be worth around a whopping $200,000. Wow! The piece was spotted in a selfie of Priyanka with friend & actress Raveena Tandon, at a party by Manish Malhotra.

Roka

          Priyanka Chopra & Nick Jonas’ engagement was an event filled with color, tradition, and style. Celebrations began with a Punjabi roka ceremony at Priyanka’s Mumbai residence on Saturday morning. Within hours of the ceremony, few pictures surfaced of the two doing puja had already hit the Internet.

          The ceremony was an intimate affair with only the couple’s family & closest friends including mom Madhu Chopra, brother Siddharth, actor cousin Parineeti Chopra, manager Anjula Acharia, screenwriter Mushtaq Shiekh, Salman Khan’s sister Arpita Khan Sharma, VJ-model Anusha, Entrepreneur Maneesh K. Goyal and others.

          Priyanka looked radiant in a sunshine yellow Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla outfit kurta-sharara set with chikankari work all over.

          On the other hand, Nick was the most genteel in a white kurta churidar as he performed the puja, with his parents also dressed in traditional wear for the ceremony.

          The couple finally announced their relationship by posting the same photograph of them together after the ceremony. Chopra’s caption revealed her feelings, “Taken... With all my heart and soul”; while Jonas’ caption conveyed his intentions “Future Mrs. Jonas. My heart. My love.”

Engagement party

          As if the roka pictures breaking the internet wasn’t enough, Priyanka & Nick hosted a stylish engagement bash that set the world on fire. The event was an elegant, weekend affair that brought out Bollywood A-listers. Some of the guests present were actors Alia Bhatt & Parineeti Chopra, producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, Salman Khan’s relatives Aayush & Arpita Khan Sharma, DJ Khushi and filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, and Mukesh & Nita Ambani with daughter Isha.

          The theme for the engagement night was casual. Soon-to-be Mrs. Jones donned a stylish Cushnie et Ochs dress paired with a diamond necklace and matching kitten heels, while Nick wore a Prada polo shirt matched with black jeans and white kicks.

Letting their hair down, everyone especially the couple, danced, sang and partied all night.

The next day, Priyanka visited Mumbai’s St. Catherine's Orphanage with her prince and to-be-in-laws where she showed off some moves with one of the children on stage.

While his bride-to-be sat beside him, Nick sang "Love Bug" a cappella to a room full of children who clapped and sang along.

          Sunday night brought the celebrations to an end as the Jonas' went back to the US and Priyanka returned to her work commitments. The festivities might have ended for the duo but not for the fans still in awe with the engagement ring, photographs and especially the cake. The latter was a surreal treat weighing 15 kilos made by Vahishta Zandbaf from Tier Nom Patisserie, Mumbai.
